This 4,500-square foot vacation home is located in an affluent Pacific coast community in Costa Rica. Referencing classic courtyard house typology, the main dwelling and secondary structures interlock to define an exterior patio and pool terrace while also creating private garden spaces that integrate with each bedroom and bathroom area. The verticality is prompted by the sweeping ocean views to the west as well as the higher ocean breezes; the resulting mass is articulated with large and small pierced openings which are further buffered by expansive louvered window systems.
